How to start the engine after repair

The correct first start after repair is no less important than the repair itself. A mistake at this stage can ruin all your work. Let's look at how to safely start the engine after repair.

Checks before starting

  1. Measure the insulation resistance with a megger - it should be normal.
  2. Check the free rotation of the shaft manually.
  3. Make sure the connection is correct (star/delta circuit according to the passport).
  4. Check reliability grounding.
  5. Inspect the terminal box and the tightness of the contacts.

First start

The first start is carried out idling, without load:

  • Apply power briefly and check the direction of rotation.
  • Listen - there should be no extraneous noise or knocking.
  • Let it run for a few minutes, controlling heating and vibration.

Run-in and control

After successful idling, the engine is run-in, gradually increasing the load. Control:

ParameterNormal
Phase currentUniform, not higher than nominal
Case heatingWithin class insulation
VibrationMinimal
NoiseSmooth, without knocking
