Overall and connecting dimensions of the motor

Overall and connecting dimensions of the motor

When replacing an engine, it is important that it not only matches in power and speed, but also physically fits into place. The overall and connection dimensions are responsible for this. Let's figure out what it is.

Overall dimensions

These are the general dimensions of the engine - length, width, height. They determine whether the machine will fit in the allotted space.

Attachment dimensions

These are the dimensions along which the engine is attached and connected to the mechanism:

  • The height of the axis of rotation is the distance from the shaft axis to the supporting plane of the paws (for example, 100 mm for AIR100).
  • The dimensions of the paws and the location of the mounting holes.
  • Shaft diameter and length.
  • Flange dimensions (for flanged machines).

Mounting version IM

Mounting method is indicated by code IM. The most common:

CodeExecution
IM1001 (IM B3)Foot-mounted
IM3001 (IM B5)Flange
IM2001 (IM B35)Flange foot

Why is this important when replacing

A motor with the correct power, but the wrong mounting style or axle height, simply won't fit into place. Therefore, when selecting a replacement, all connecting dimensions are checked. If an exact analogue is not available, sometimes it is more profitable to repair the existing engine.
