AIR engines: markings and analogues

AIR engines: markings and analogues

The AIR series is the most common among asynchronous motors in the post-Soviet space. Let's look at its markings and how to select analogues for replacement.

What does AIR mean

AIR is a single series of asynchronous motors. Markings like AIR100L4 are deciphered as follows:

PartValue
AIRSeries
100Axle height, mm
LBed length
4Number of poles (revolutions)

Analogs from other series

AIR is interchangeable with a number of series if the installation dimensions match:

  • 4A - predecessor, often interchangeable.
  • AD, 5A, AI - close series.
  • Imported - if the dimensions and power match.

How to choose an analogue

To replace, the following must match: power, speed (number of poles), axle height and mounting design. If these parameters match, the engines are interchangeable, even from different series. More details about the parameters can be found in the material on selecting a replacement engine.

If an exact analogue is not available, it is often more profitable to repair the existing engine than to wait for delivery. If the markings are erased, the parameters are determined by measurements during diagnostics.
